Welcome to the School of Law UQ

Dear Students,

Welcome to the School of Law at the University of Queensland. We are excited that you have chosen to study with us.

I would like to introduce myself. I’m the postgraduate coordinator at the UQ School of Law and you can contact me regarding course selections, study plans, graduation checks and anything relating to your studies at UQ. This will be discussed in more detail at our orientation session next week. You are encouraged to attend this session as it will contain useful information and provide you the opportunity to ask us questions.

We will meet for your orientation session onThursday, 18 July 2:00pm (AEST), in the Forgan Smith Building (01) - Room W332.In this session, we will provide important information about your program, enrolment information and key University information. We will also answer any questions you may have regarding your studies. In the meantime, I have provided some information below to assist with your commencement.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Please enrol in a course before the final date for addition of courses -2 August 2024.

  • International students commencing in theMaster of Laws (LLM)that completed their law degree in a non-common law jurisdictionmustenrol in LAWS7936 (Fundamentals of the Common Law) this semester. If you have not already done so, please add LAWS7936 to your studies on mySI-net.

  • If you experience problems enrolling please emailpglaw@law.uq.edu.aufor assistance. Always include your full name and student number when corresponding with us. Once you have added at least one course, mySI-net will allow you to alter your enrolments (add/drop courses) freely until Friday, 2 August. After this date, you can still drop without penalty until 31 August, but will not be able to add courses. Please add four courses to your enrolment if you are studying full-time this semester.

  • Please familiarise yourself with “MyUQ” (available athttps://my.uq.edu.au/). This website provides important information regarding the progression of your study. Click on ‘Go to my.UQ dashboard’. On this website you can access your UQ student email account, the Library website, mySI-net (to add/drop courses), Learn.UQ (where you will find the Blackboard sites for each of the courses you have enrolled in). Once you are in the Learn.UQ (Blackboard) site for your courses you can view the full course profile for each of your courses. Course profiles will give you information regarding the Course Coordinator, content of the course, readings, assessment items and due dates for assignments. Some course profiles are already available but most will become available in Orientation Week.

If you have any queries regarding any of this information please email me atpglaw@law.uq.edu.au

We look forward to your commencement with us at the UQ School of Law.
