We are delighted to witness our new government's commitment to making the UK a welcoming environment for international students. The new Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson’s speech at the Education Embassy Conference today is a significant step in reaffirming the value that international students bring to our society and our economy, see the details of the announcement here.
At the University of Central Lancashire, we are thrilled by the Secretary of State's message, and we wholeheartedly echo this sentiment. The Government's clear stance on valuing the contributions of international students aligns with our vision of a diverse and inclusive educational community. We are particularly pleased to see the continuation of the Graduate Route visa, which provides international graduates the opportunity to build their careers in the UK after their studies.
Phillipson said in her announcement “Be in no doubt: international students are welcome in the UK. This new government values their contribution – to our universities, to our communities, to our country. I want Britain to welcome those who want to come to these shores to study and meet the requirements to do so."
Graham Baldwin, our Vice-Chancellor, expressed his support, stating, “This commitment from the Government reinforces the importance of international students in our educational landscape. At the University of Central Lancashire we remain dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for all our students.”
We look forward to collaborating with the government to welcome and support our international students, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive and succeed.
