But it was the promise of a practical approach to learning through Swinburne’s Work Integrated Learning program that really caught her eye.Trang’s placement at Medibank taught her a lot about the Australian work culture, from workplace communication to weekly team meetings. The experience gave her a good grasp of how things work in Australia. The position also helped Trang to utilise the communication skills and knowledge from her degree to create meaningful interactions with different groups of people, such as her co-workers, stakeholders, university partners, and students.Throughout her placement, Trang took on different projects, including ones outside of her area of study, which was challenging at first but ultimately a great learning experience. Before commencing her placement, Trang attended Swinburne’s placement workshops, where she received a brief introduction about Australian working culture, tips on what to wear to work and who to talk to if she had any problems while working.
