It’s crucial that students plan their finances appropriately, to ensure they have the funds for their course tuition fees and living costs in the UK. Please encourage your students holding an offer with NTU to start planning now and look out for an email which will inform them of an important change to the advance payment amount.
We have taken the decision to increase our advance payment amount in line with other UK institutions. Changing our advance payment to£6,000supports students to financially prepare for the cost of a UK degree.
We want our students to make financial planning a priority before commencing their course. This allows them to focus on learning and enjoying their time as a student at NTU, rather than worrying about being able to pay their fees and potentially having to leave their course and return home due to lack of funds.
1. Please inform your NTU offer holders who have not yet made their advance payment of the new amount of £6,000. 2. If your student has already paid or initiated their advance payment prior to Thursday 11 April 2024, they will not be required to pay the new amount. If your student is paying the £6,000 advance payment they will receive an updated offer letter. Please encourage all your students to start planning their finances for studying in the UK. They may wish to pay more towards their tuition fees, and we encourage students to do this once they have met their academic conditions and have confirmed NTU as their first choice. Doing this will reduce the amount they need to pay when they start their studies and if they have paid sufficient it may take away any concerns about making their first payment when they arrive in Nottingham. We have recently sent students detailed guidance of costs to consider. 3. Share details of the NTU Scholarship Scheme. Last year we supported over 1,000 students from 75 countries with a scholarship from £2,000 up to 50% of their tuition fees. 4. Please encourage your students to continue checking emails from NTU. Soon we’ll be hosting a webinar with colleagues from the Student Support team and current NTU students, who'll share some useful budgeting advice. Plus, we’ll share details of how students can apply for a scholarship. They should look out for an invite to this upcoming webinar. 5. Make your students aware of our advance payment refund policy. An advance payment shall only be refundable if a student's UK visa application is rejected, or the University withdraws their offer of a place due to failure to meet the University's academic entry criteria. |
