New Government’s stance on international students echoes the warm welcome offered at Leicester |
Our President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Leicester Professor Nishan Canagarajah added his warm welcome to international students, following a speech from the Secretary of State for Education earlier this week which demonstrated the UK’s new Government’s commitment to welcoming international students and maintaining the Graduate Route visa. “Be in no doubt: international students are welcome in the UK” was the message from Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson speaking at the Embassy Education Conference earlier this week. International students offer global perspectives and important skills allowing all students to benefit from the exchange of ideas, the discovery of new cultures and a widened world view. International students and colleagues - be in no doubt: you are welcome at Leicester. |

We will continue to accept Postgraduate applications in the run up to the September intake, for courses where space is available. Applicants should bear in mind that they need to leave adequate time to complete all steps of the application, visa, and enrolment process. Foxes supremo is honoured by University of Leicester for successful club stewardship |
Leicester City Football Club’s chairman, Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws during a graduation ceremony recognised by the University of Leicester for his successful stewardship of the club. President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, Professor Nishan Canagarajah, said: “The Srivaddhanaprabha family’s impact on the city of Leicester can not be underestimated. Their commitment to Leicester City Football Club goes beyond the investment they’ve made on the pitch, with the family setting up the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation, which works with Leicester-based causes to build support and develop the local community. “Top has embraced the tough task of taking on his father’s stewardship of the Foxes, and his leadership and love for his adopted city is clear to see. The Srivaddhanaprabha legacy is safe in Top’s hand, and I am delighted to officially welcome him to the University of Leicester family.” |
