Please forward this newsletter to all your branch offices and specifically the counsellors supporting BU applicants, as well as any sub-agents you are working with for BU applications.Airport transfersThe arrival weekend for the January 2024 intake is Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 January 2024. BU will offer subsidised airport transfer taxis for students arriving in the UK between Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 January 2024. Information regarding booking airport transfers is available on the BU webpage and the reservation deadline is 5pm (UK time) on Monday 15 January 2024, but we recommend booking early. If students are planning to arrive before 18 January or after 21 January, they will need to make their own travel arrangements. For further details, please refer to our webpage.Start of January termThe January intake starts on 22 January 2024. Students are expected to have arrived in Bournemouth, completed their enrolment, and started their classes by this date. There will be a live Q&A session for January 2024 starters as below so please encourage your students to attend: Wednesday 10 January, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm (UK time) - Register for this event It is a good opportunity for incoming students to chat directly with our admissions staff and some current students and ask questions about student visas, accommodation and what it is like to be a BU student in the UK and Bournemouth.Registration and enrolmentPlease support students to complete their online registration and enrolment to make sure they can access everything they need to begin their studies at BU. Students with an unconditional offer would have received a registration invitation by email to complete the process. The key steps are: Complete their online registration and tuition fee payment through myHub.Register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for added security to their BU account.Log in to Brightspace to access their faculty area and course information and BU email account to receive BU communication.Complete their enrolment through myHub by Monday 22 January 2024. Students who require a visa to study in the UK, may also be asked to complete this enrolment step in person during the first few weeks of their course at BU and provide verification documents such as original certificates of their qualifications, proof of photographic identity and Student Route (or other) visa. Click here for full details and the step-by-step guide.Late startAn email with information on late start was sent to all students who paid their deposit in December and again this week. Please make sure to read our policy on late start here and advise your students accordingly to make sure they understand the consequences of arriving at BU after the course start date. If students are not able to arrive by their course start date or think they may not be able to begin their studies on time, they must let us know as soon as they are aware of the potential delay by completing our online form. Late start must be agreed with us in advance and will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Please make sure that students do not make firm arrangements to arrive late unless we have agreed to their late start. This includes changing or cancelling other living, working, or studying arrangements. If any student arrives at BU after their course start date without agreement from us, they will not be able to begin their studies even if they have fully completed their online registration and enrolment. Students should consider deferring their place to September 2024 if they cannot arrive at BU by 22 January 2024.AccommodationAccommodation in the Bournemouth area is limited. If your applicant has not yet secured a room, there are some BU rooms still available. Visit our how to book webpages for further information. The app provides a full schedule of welcome events and lots of useful information to help students settle in their first few weeks.Unibuddy communityStudents can join the Unibuddy Community which provides a safe and official space for them to meet and get to know other new students before they arrive at BU. Please check that all your applications have been tagged to BU before you submit the list.
