This programme will build on your existing expertise to give you the experience and skills to follow a successful career in biomedical engineering. You’ll take a compulsory module on biomedical engineering in urology covering surgical instrumentation, imaging and diagnostics, tissue engineering, catheters, pads and implantable devices and materials. You’ll follow that with a compulsory module on ethics and regulatory affairs. The rest of your programme is determined by the specialism you choose. You'll have the option to explore modules in Electronics, Medical Robotics and surgical techniques, Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine, Materials Selection in Design, Advanced Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Sensors & Clinical Measurements and Tissue Mechanics. Your research project forms a major part of your degree. It provides you with an opportunity to take part in the internationally leading research that takes place within the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS). You’ll join one of our research teams and work on a biomedical engineering related project, supervised by a member of academic staff. Our excellent facilities will enable you to conduct cutting-edge research, enabling you to publish your findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
